Don Nicholson of Mequoda Group, LLC (Bio: www.mequoda.com/author/don-nicholas/) has written an excellent article about how to fight online plagiarism. To read his article, go to http://www.mequoda.com/articles/blogging-for-profit/how-to-defend-your-online-content-from-theft/
A brief summary was included in the May 2009 Freelance Writer’s Report published by CNW Publishing. (www.writers-editors.com) Two highlights from the article:
1. Go to www.betterwhois.com to find out the registered owner of the URL where unauthorized reproductions of your material are being displayed. This will also tell you who hosts the site.
2. Send a notice of copyright infringement to the offender’s Web host.
Again, for all the details, read Don’s article at the site listed above!

In my blog roll, I have listed “A Poet’s View” because he has interesting comments about plagiarism and blogs. If you know of other links with good information about fighting online plagiarism, would be great if you would share. It’s unfortunate, but all too many online places totally ignore copyright law and think nothing of copying/pasting the work of others without asking for permission.
(And if you haven’t guessed yet, I’m still not home. But I did walk 10 baby steps. It’s the first time I’ve walked in two months!)
