“Fair Use” Guidelines Are Being Challenged

Published by aw2500 under Writers Edit This

The New York Times recently posted an article titled “Copyright Challenged for Sites That Excerpt” at http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/02/business/media/02scrape.html?_r=1&emc=eta1
that is certainly worth reading.

Per the article, “Copyright infringement lawsuits directed at bloggers & other online publishers seem to be on the rise.” In other words, use of materials that were previously considered covered by ‘fair use’ guidelines are now being challenged. If you’re a blogger quoting from another source, you should now ask permission first so as to avoid a lawsuit later.

Waiting for Permission - or Questions

Published by aw2500 under Writers Edit This

As my friend so kindly posted for me, I’m currently on the disabled list. I managed to fall and break my ankle and am currently in physical rehab. I’ll be waiting for awhile for my doc’s permission to go home again. I’m not sure how much, if at all, I’ll be able to post on topic for my blog as all my notes are at home!

However, I can still answer questions! So if you are working on permissions, and have a question, this is a perfect opportunity for you to ask as I’m a captive audience.
